Packin' the House with Fun
by Jeff Davis

For big fun, low stress and a good excuse to just hang out with our kids, KPS was the place to be on Wednesday night, October 7. The KPSPTO Family Game Night was just the ticket for a relaxing evening... without commercials!

Although some may have wished for a TV or two showing the big game, it was the little games like Scrabble, Candy Land and Chutes & Ladders that made all of the difference. Paired with our annual Book Fair, Family Game Night was big fun for the little ones!

Did you know that Vanilla was the most popular ice cream flavor? Or that Science is KPS' most popular subject? Did you know that more KPS families have a dog than any other pet? We found out during our game show-style activity where kids got to guess the most popular answers to questions asked of the attendees... and everyone was a winner.

Speaking of winners, three KPS kids won coupons worth ten dollars each to spend at the Book Fair in the raffle drawing during the evening! How cool is that?

The Annual KPS Book Fair showed just how excited our kids can be about reading, with brisk sales and happy faces all around. Less toys and games and a better, more age-appropriate selection made this year's Book Fair a wonderful addition to the change of seasons. As the nights get longer and kids have more chances to snuggle up with a good book, it's great to know that they have the chance to pick out books that actually interest them. Reading is the fundemental tool for all aspects of learning, and your KPSPTO is committed to helping families build those skills.

A big, shout out to all of the KPS parents who gave of themselves and volunteered to help out, both at the evening event and all of the days of the Book Fair. Chairperson Stephanie Dicembrino and all of the volunteers helped to make this one of the best events for the best group of kids around. If you would like to get in on the fun and help out at our next event, send a note to volunteers@kpspto.org and let us know!

And, an extra big special shout out to all of the Dads who showed up. In light of the big playoff baseball game that many would've rather have been watching at home, it's nice to see that our priorities are focused where they can do the most good... on spending time with our families!
