KPSPTO Bylaws 11-12

Article I - Name
The name of the organization is the Kent Primary School Parent Teacher Organization (KPSPTO) located in Carmel, New York.

Article II - Mission Statement
The Kent Primary School PTO is an organization dedicated to the purpose of enriching the educational and social experience in our school.  Comprised of our families, teachers, and staff we promote a sense of community through events and experiences.  To achieve our goals, our organization shall:

  1. Raise and expend funds to enhance and improve the educational quality of Kent Primary School, including, but not limited to, financial support to classroom teachers, purchase of books and materials, procurement of educational assemblies and development and promotion of after-school enrichment programs

  2. Sponsor projects and events for the benefit of Kent Primary School students

  3. Strive to achieve a closer working relationship between teachers, parents, and community through information and communication

Article III - Basic Policies
The Basic policies of the KPSPTO are the following:
1. This shall be a non-profit, non-commercial, non-partisan organization. As such, the name of the organization may not be used in connection with any commercial or political interests not appropriately related to the organization.
2. In the event of the dissolution of the organization, its assets shall be designated to and disbursed between the various groups/grades/committees in Kent Primary School as deemed worthwhile by the dissolving board. Simple majority vote will rule disbursement.
3. As of June 1st of each school year, any monies allocated to each budget category, which is not spent shall revert back to the general funds of the KPSPTO unless otherwise specified.
4. All Executive Board Members are expected to attend ALL meetings including, general meetings, and principal's meetings. Any Executive Board member that misses a meeting in which a vote is being taken, may at the discretion of Board Members in attendance, lose their right to that vote.
5. Any Executive Board member who knows they will miss a meeting, in which a vote will take place, may send a proxy vote with another Executive Board member.
